Interested in documenting my explorations traveling around the city, I began documenting the grounds as the streets and pavements differ greatly from Singapore’s. My most used mode of transportation was by metro, hence I began making paper cuts of the ground at different metro stations. As the ground of each station has specific rock grain patterns, each piece adheres to it’s own site at it’s own specific time and place.
Cutting out the shapes forms the ‘music score sheet’ of that particular rock. The paper would feed into the music box that will play the sound ‘frequency’ of the rock. I had wanted to explore various ways of creating a crystal formation, which lead me to begin exploring sound as a new avenue.
The titles of the score sheet will be the coordinates of the location recorded followed by the name of the metro station.
